What We Do

Bay Appraisals Jewelry is an independent jewelry, gemstone, and fine watch appraiser in El Paso, Texas

We do not buy or sell jewelry and offer purely unbiased values on all appraisals made. What makes us different is that we never take possession of your jewelry.
All appraisal information is taken on location and returned to owner at the close of initial inspection of jewelry. The resulting evaluation is presented to the owner within 10 business days.

Bay Appraisals Jewelry currently works with Johnson Jewelers in El Paso, Texas and other partner businesses nationally to offer staging locations for appraisal events. We also offer in-home appraisals for a nominal fee.

Using the latest state of the art methods, Bay Appraisals analyzes jewelry within industry standards for diamonds, colored gemstones, and precious metals.

Our Mission Statement: To be our community's trusted choice for all of your jewelry appraisal needs.

Why are appraisals so important? Most importantly, they are proof of ownership. Receipts explain very little about a piece of fine jewelry, fine watches, and flatware. They rarely give dimensions, quality characteristics, metal content or detailed descriptions.

They are also used in Estate Planning and for insurance purposes should the worse happen and you need to replace your beloved item. Accurate appraisals are important because if your jewelry is ever lost, stolen or damaged your insurance company will be referring to your appraisal document. If you do not keep your appraisal updated, you stand the risk of your item being undervalued, and that will be the appraisal used for your reimbursement.

It is also recommended to update your appraisal every three to five years. Whether it is your engagement ring that is worn every day, or a piece that was inherited from your grandmother/grandfather's estate, Bay Appraisals Jewelry is ready to offer you an appraisal.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A G.I.A. GRADUATE GEMOLOGIST?

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is widely considered the most prestigious professional gemology school in the world.

The graduate gemologist (GG) designation is earned along with a diploma from GIA. The prestigious institution teaches gemologists all they need to know on how to deal with diamonds and other colored stones.

The diploma program covers scientific and technical aspects of identifying and grading diamonds, and is intended to give comprehensive knowledge that's needed to succeed in the jewelry industry.

The G.G. designation at the end of an individual's name is recognized instantly throughout the world, and is a mark of expertise in the jewelry industry.
